Just a Drop of Water

The parched land

The dried grass

And withered young leaves

Plead for a drop of rain

The thirsty bird looks up

And squeaks weakly

As the unwanted sun

Stares back, helpless

The flower’s upturned face

And open mouth

Long to taste

A drop of sweet water
