When the Light Barged in

I stood in the corner

of my tiny room,

scared of the light

that followed me

wherever I went.

I pulled my curtains,

hiding inside, holding

on to darkness, taking

comfort in misery

when sunlight crept in

through the tiny opening

in my curtains.

Terrified of the light,

I buried my face in

my hands.

Sunlight colored my fingertips,

pricking my eyelids.

I felt the light

with closed eyes,

flooded by its warmth,

its positivity and grandeur.

No longer fearful,

I shed the comfort of darkness

and stepped on

the path of light.

Nameless Tree

It was a very dark night

when I was lost in the forest

I felt relieved as I spotted a huge tree

and sat down under it

The tree moved all of a sudden,

taking long strides with muddy legs

It paused hastily

and bent down to take a look

with wild, hungry eyes

and I stared into the face of a dinosaur

There was a hollow laugh somewhere

and the animal jumped around the forest

The plants nearby

were in fact small dinosaurs

and they stood up giggling

and spewing venom

as I sat transfixed

A Strange Night

Night is a delight

in the safety of a house

and the comfort of blissful sleep

It was a strange night

when I felt myself thrown down

by a compelling, unnatural force

towards a vast ocean

where razor teeth, acid stomach

and other nameless monsters of the ocean

waited for an object from the land

My eyes blinded from the wind

and heart with fear

the ocean seemed so near

I sat up, my heart thudding

and the darkness

seeped through every window

my dream incomplete

Darkness

As I stood in the darkness

Lost in nostalgia

Staring at the tall trees

The wet leaves rustling

Lending cool breeze

I wanted to be a part of this nature

A part of this silence

A part of this mystic.

A chilling laugh broke through my reverie

Terrifying in its impact

Startling with its proximity

My thoughts lost

The Moment gone.

Disturbed by the inhuman sound

I slowly walked back to the clamour

The confusion and meaningless banter

Turning to glance at the mocking night

Searching for the lost sight

And the momentary thought.

Night

The fascination of the night

The secret it beholds

Erasing sorrows of the cruel day

Offering calmness all the way

Pacifying many a raging hearts

Soothing many a confused minds

Taking them into a world of oblivion

A paradise of calm and peace.

Who compares night to gloom?

And the day to joy?

I will take darkness anytime

Take away the scorching sun

And show me the way to oblivion.
