Their Share of the Rose

Everyone wants their share

Of the slick yellow rose

The dew drops are positioned

To glide over the glossy petals

The panting wind lingers

Taking in the fragrance

Birds wait for their turn

To take a closer look

At the eye-catching beauty

The slowly withering rose

Only waits for the bee

To have its share

Before it fades away

Steady Heart

Every time you fly the fighter aircraft

With a steady heart and focussed thoughts

Equipped with years of training

Your country shivers for you

Strangers pray for you

Spare a thought for your family

Think of your expectant nation

And pause a minute

With a shred of humanity

Still in your heart

Think of your enemy

A victim of your destruction

Prepared to strike back

Both automated to perish

Following somebody’s orders

Who would sign treaties

And shake hands

After nothing is left

And everyone is gone

Looking Ahead

Just a glance at you

Brightens my day

Sunny, colourful and lively

Amongst ruins and weary leaves

You taught me

The purpose of life

Is to stand tall

Look forward

Never stoop low

And keep smiling

Amidst adversities

Brighten the lives

Of those around you

Shine, smile and laugh

As long as you grace this earth

A Mystery Called Youth

The beauty of life

Is the mystery called youth

Which creeps into naïve childhood

With a feisty radiance

Those limited hours

Spent in rebellion

Daydreams and ambition,

Trivial rivalries and futile competition

Some grasp the purpose

Moving ahead with grace

While others are left behind

Clutching the hastening youth

With bodies growing old

And perplexed mind forever stagnated

In escapisms and past fantasies

The Painting

Whose imagination brought to life?

Whose life inspired this art?

A painting of a boy

Looking at you

Or looking through you?

Deep inside the glassy eyes

You can spot the distress

You can feel the ache

Hours of pain witnessed by the painter

Transferred within a second to the viewer

Just a Drop of Water

The parched land

The dried grass

And withered young leaves

Plead for a drop of rain

The thirsty bird looks up

And squeaks weakly

As the unwanted sun

Stares back, helpless

The flower’s upturned face

And open mouth

Long to taste

A drop of sweet water

What Lies Underneath

I desired the purity of your eyes

You revealed the cunning beneath

I craved the softness of your lips

You barred the venom underneath

I longed for the sweetness of your words

You broke me with manipulation

I ached for a friendly gesture

You exposed your arrogant nature

I remain forever indebted

You taught me to look beyond the face

Deep and deep into the soul

Start a Blog – Voice Your Thoughts to Capture People’s Imagination

Have you decided to start a blog? How do you make it a success? How do you get people to notice your blog and improve your statistics? Here are a few simple guidelines to increase your readership.

Blog, Not a Personal Diary

Do not make the blog your personal diary with the mundane day-to-day happenings in your life. Unless you want to restrict your readership to your family and friends, make your blog interesting and general.

Make it Useful

You are likely to attract more readers if your blog answers people’s questions. Conduct a search on what people want to know. If the answers are within your capabilities, why not write a post on them? Questions like, ‘How to open an account with Facebook?’ and ‘How to start a blog?’ are still being asked.

What Are You Passionate About?

If you seek an outlet to vent your inner desires and also gain a decent readership, write on what you are passionate about. Your passion for topics is likely to be displayed in your blog and well received by like-minded people.

Technical Stuff Sells

If you are crazy about iPhones, iPods or cars, you may write numerous posts on them. Share your technical knowledge with others and gain updates on the latest happenings in your area of interest.

Your Take on Relationships

If you are neither a technical wizard nor have an inclination towards social networking sites, start a blog on relationships. Present your point of view on different relationships and how to deal with problems. Offer tips and advice. You may be surprised by the increase in readership.

You and Your Kitchen

You may try different recipes in your kitchen. How about sharing your creativity with others? Your entire blog may be based on food and recipes or you may devote a category to it. There is no dearth of readers for a good recipe.

Attracting new readers to your blog is difficult. Retaining old readers is still more difficult. A good knowledge on your topic and innovative thinking could help you gain both.
