Friday Fictioneers – Sam’s Job

thirsty

“I have to clean the barn and fetch some fresh corn and oats.” said Sam

“What next?”

“The new horse seems so restless. He needs to be exercised.”

“I noticed the grey mare was rather unsteady.”

“We need to look into it. She might have stepped on some stones.” said Sam

“Why can’t Carson do his work? He is the groom, after all.”

“Oh! The owner does not trust humans. That is why we are here.” said Sam, the workhorse, as he reached for the hose pipe.

Thank you, Rochelle, for hosting Friday Fictioneers. Thanks to Doug for this lovely photo.

  1. Animals can teach humans a lot about caring! Your story raises questions and there’s a backstory to this. I wonder why the horses’ owner employs Carson if he doesn’t trust him? Why doesn’t the owner trust humans? Can you send Sam and pals to do my housework? 🙂

    • The owner probably is indebted to Carson in some way, that is why he employs him. Some bad incidents in the past have robbed him of his trust in humans. Sure, Sam would like to come over if he gets a lot of tasty corns and oats:)) Thank you so much for reading and commenting:)
