I am a light butterfly of yellow
and my flight takes me
to the colours I fancy
I perch on a sunflower
of my color
and the next moment
roll over the roses for nectar
I spring joyfully
to the overtly ripe fruit
and shuttle around
the night’s dim lights
I circle the warm fire,
which is brighter than any color
The heat warns me,
but I fail to notice
and in my excited state
jump straight into the hungry flames
the first part was enchanting, amazing the climax was painful 😦
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Sharmishtha. The butterfly has a rather frivolous attitude towards life and it may not always work..
very true.
Ahhh! Poor butterfly. You just have to be careful at all times I guess.
yes, that is true.. Thanks so much for the comment
Beautiful capture! Wonderful poetry!
Thank you so much for the comment on the poetry. I usually write the poems first and later go to morguefiles to pick a suitable image..
Lovely poem – and it reminds me of some human inclinations too… jumping into hungry flames in due to an excited state ~~ excellent!! R
